Job Description

We are a growing Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) firm specializing in retirement plan investment management. We are looking for a motivated, highly organized individual to join our team as a Trading & Operations Associate .

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to learn how investment management and retirement plans actually work. You will receive hands-on exposure to 401(k), 403(b), 457 and other defined contribution retirement plans , investment transactions, portfolio management, financial technology and client service.

We are looking for someone who is interested in building a career—not simply finding a job . The right person will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and develop a strong foundation for a future role in investment management or financial advice.

What You'll Do

Your primary responsibility will be helping manage and execute investment transactions within employer-sponsored retirement plans.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Execute and process investment trades for 401(k), 403(b), 457 and other defined contribution retirement accounts.
  • Navigate multiple financial-services websites and retirement plan platforms to research accounts, process transactions and verify information.
  • Enter and maintain investment and account data accurately.
  • Review trade information and account details for accuracy before and after transactions.
  • Perform calculations involving investment amounts, percentages and account balances.
  • Monitor transactions and follow up on items that require additional attention.
  • Communicate with clients and other financial-services professionals by telephone and email.
  • Assist with reconciliation and quality-control procedures.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation.
  • Use Microsoft Excel for basic data entry, calculations, sorting, filtering and other routine tasks.
  • Learn and work within the firm's investment-management and trading procedures.
  • Assist other members of the investment and operations team as needed.

What We're Looking For

This position is ideal for someone who is organized, conscientious and naturally pays attention to the small details.

You should have:

  • An Associate's degree or higher , preferably in business, finance, accounting, economics or a related field.
  • Strong basic math skills and comfort working with percentages, dollar amounts and financial data.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel .
  • Excellent computer and website navigation skills—you should be comfortable learning new websites and software platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good verbal and telephone communication skills.
  • Professional written communication skills.
  • The ability to follow established procedures consistently.
  • The ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions.
  • A willingness to learn the fundamentals of investments, retirement plans and financial markets.
  • A clean background check .

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who:

  • Takes pride in getting things right.
  • Double-checks their work rather than assuming it is correct.
  • Can stay focused when performing repetitive but important tasks.
  • Is comfortable learning new technology.
  • Is dependable and takes ownership of their responsibilities.
  • Wants to learn and grow within a financial-services organization.

As you gain experience and demonstrate your abilities, there may be opportunities to assume additional responsibilities and develop into a more advanced role within the firm.

Work Environment

This is primarily an in-office position during the initial training period. Because accuracy, security and familiarity with our systems are extremely important, new employees are expected to work in the office and become proficient in the role before transitioning to remote work.

After approximately six months , employees who have demonstrated strong performance, reliability and the ability to work independently may have the opportunity to work from home on a hybrid or remote basis , subject to company policy.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive entry-level compensation based on education and experience.
  • Opportunity for advancement within a growing Registered Investment Adviser firm.
  • On-the-job training in retirement plans, investments and portfolio management.
  • Potential for a hybrid/work-from-home arrangement after approximately six months.
  • Professional environment with the opportunity to build a long-term career in financial services.
